Evergreen Corporation made such a big deal of it just because of Samantha? Was this even reasonable?
Samantha was completely baffled.
Layla explained, "Think about it. You're ranked first right now, way ahead of several popular celebrities. If their fans see this, they're definitely going to think you got in through the back door, or they'll start attacking you and digging up dirt on you.
"Fans of those celebrities can't stand it when someone is ranked higher than their idol. Even simple headlines about who looks better can lead to massive online mockery. And now, you, a nobody, are ahead of those celebrities. Do you really think their fans won't blow a fuse?"
That did sound pretty scary. Samantha suddenly felt grateful for Evergreen Corporation's decision.
Layla rested her chin on her hand, thinking. "So here's the question—why would Evergreen Corporation keep it under wraps just for you? Is your boyfriend some high-ranking executive over there or something?"
Samantha was shocked. That was spot on. Layla was so close to the truth.
She quickly dropped a piece of meat onto Layla's plate, trying to change the topic. "But right now, my biggest headache is figuring out where I can find someone to teach me how to walk the runway."
Layla ate the meat and smiled. "Isn't that easy?"
"Is it really that easy?"
"Of course! Leave it to me. Don't worry!"
"Really?"
"Trust me!" Layla said confidently. "Our neighborhood is really private, and many people living there are from the industry.
"I know a model—she's new but very driven. Her career is on the rise, and she's perfect for helping newcomers like you. She knows exactly what someone starting should focus on and can guide you with precision."
"Thank you, Layla!" Samantha still had some doubts. "But will she really want to help me?"
"Of course! She's my best friend now."
Samantha shot her a questioning look.
Layla immediately grinned and said, "But you are the best of the best."
