Reborn to Burn Them All novel Chapter 185

Chapter 185

As soon as the man appeared, Sophia tensed up, every inch of her on guard as she stared at him expressionlessly.

It wasn’t until that warm, crystal clear, and resplendent voice reached Sophia’s ears, as if echoing from some distant, unfathomable place, that che le as though her very soul was being cleansed, her mind instantly clear, and every fiber of her being completely at ease.

The serious middleaged man explained, Sir arrived here before you. He wasn’t eavesdropping on purpose.”

Dorian had never seen these two before. He looked at the young man with curiosity, his gaze darting between Sophia and the young man, puzzled.

There was something about this young man that gave Dorian the exact same vibe as Sophia.

Dorian had never encountered a situation like this before, giving Sophia’s sleeve a tentative tug.

Sophia fixed her gaze intently on her Guardian. What’s your name?she demanded.

Dorian was taken aback.

The serious middleaged man frowned, about to speak, but before he could, the young man cut in with a selfintroduction. Edward Hartwick.

Both the stern middleaged man and Dorian fell silent.

Dorian thought, Huh, one of the Hartwick family? He glanced at Edward again.

After getting the name, Sophia turned away with cold indifference and walked off. Dorian cast a glance at Edward before quickly going after her.

After the two left, the middleaged man couldn’t help but speak up. Mr. Hartwick?

Edward raised a hand to stop him, his gaze lingering in the direction where Sophia had disappeared.

A sudden fit of coughing seized Edward. Colin Flores, the serious middleaged man, quickly reached into the hidden compartment behind the wheelchair, pulled out some medicine and a bottle of water, and handed them to Edward without hesitation.

After taking his medicine, Edward looked up to see a young man in a tailored suit approachinghis chiseled features set off by striking brows and piercing eyes. He greeted Edward respectfully, Hi, Mr. Hartwick.”

Colin frowned, his displeasure evident at the interruption. What do you want, Miles?

Mrs. Dawson would like to see you, Mr. Hartwick,Miles said respectfully.

No.Edward’s voice remained warm and clear, yet laced with unmistakable indifference. His gaze drifted lightly over Miles. I’m not here today for social

calls.

Even a fleeting glance from Edward was enough to make Miles feel an overwhelming, intangible pressure.

Miles barely dared to breathe. With his head bowed low, he murmured, Understood.

Edward waved dismissively. With a respectful nod, Miles left.

Colin suddenly realized something. Mr. Hartwick,he said, that was Ms. Chandler just now.

Edward closed his eyes, his voice heavy with fatigue. Colin, I’m tired,he murmured. Colin gently began to wheel him away.

Noticing Sophia’s pale complexion, Dorian said cautiously, Sophia, he is from the Hartwick family. Evander said the Hartwick family would be sending someone, I thought it would be Miles.

Chapter 185

Sophia paused midstep and turned to Dorian. Did you notice anything off about that man just now?She knew how sharp Dorian’s instucts were

Strange?Dorian was taken aback for a moment. I didn’t think he was strange bit sickly.

at all. He’s actually quite handsome just in a wheelchair, and he looks a

Sophia frowned. Nothing at all?

Dorian hesitated, parting his lips as Sophia fixed her gaze on him.

Growing nervous under her scrutiny, he finally admitted, Well, if I had to say, being around him just feels really comfortable, kind of like how I feel when I’m with you, Sophia.

Sophia’s frown deepened, her face growing increasingly grim.

All my past has taught me this man is a wild card, she thought. Until I know whether he’s friend or foe, I must keep my distance!

Sophia, do you know him?Dorian asked cautiously.

Sophia shook her head in denial. No.

No sooner had Sophia finished speaking than she caught sight of someone emerging from around the corner. Dorian followed her gaze and said, That’s Miles.

Sophia remained silent. Dorian murmured under his breath, The Dawson family sure has a lot of clout. It’s just a wedding for a collateral relative, but they actually got the Hartwick family’s heir to show up.

Sophia averted her gaze. Her thoughts weren’t on the Hartwick family’s heir, but on that mysterious gentleman Charlotte had mentioned. It could very well be Edward, she realized inwardly.

Today’s wedding was surprisingly grand. Amid the crowd, Sophia spotted Jonathan, Heather, Sean, and Yvette. Well,Sophia thought with a hint of irony, they all came. She saw them clearly, though they remained oblivious to her presence.

Yvette couldn’t reach Zachary and even thought about going to the Dawson estate to look for him, but she couldn’t even get past their front gate.

To her surprise, the Dawson family actually sent a wedding invitation to the Chandler familywhat an unexpected stroke of luck.

Though she didn’t see Zachary, she did spot the Hartwick family’s heir and couldn’t help but grin with delight.

Yvette was practically buzzing with excitement as she found an excuse to slip away, eager to strike up a conversation.

Dorian nudged Sophia and whispered, Sophia, isn’t that Yvette over there? What’s she up to?

Dorian had also spotted the Chandler family and noticed how Yvette’s eyes lit up as she gazed at Miles.

Sophia’s lips curved into a knowing smile. Let’s watch the show. Then she and Dorian found a prime spot on the second floor to watch the drama unfold.

Downstairs, Yvette could barely contain her excitement as she made her move on Miles. He was the kind of man she could only dream of before, but now, unbelievably, she finally had her chance.

Yvette had planned to fake a fall, but her nerves got the better of her, and she actually stumbled right in front of Miles.

Ow-Yvette yelped as her ankle twisted and she collapsed onto her knees. Flustered, she instinctively grabbed Miles’s sleeve. Ssorry, I didn’t mean

to.

Yvette was truly panicked this time, and with her twisted ankle throbbing in pain, her eyes glistened with unshed tears. Coupled with the soft glow she always seemed to carry, her tearful, trembling look made her appear heartbreakingly delicate.
