The options presented for Stanley's fate were grim. It was either public punishment with a minimum of ten years in a high-security prison or private punishment with sixty lashes in the altar room.
Either way, Stanley seemed destined for a bleak outcome.
Feeling frustrated, Peter shifted his attention back to Santiago.
"Dad, please say something. If we follow either of these paths, Stanley is practically dead! There are hardly any heirs left in the younger generation of the Jenkins family. Can you really stand by and watch your grandson die?"
In his old age, Santiago was weary of affairs and no longer held the rigid discipline of his youth.
As he grew older, all he desired was for his children and grandchildren to be healthy, happy, and united.
While Stanley may have been at fault, the thought of watching him die was unbearable.
After much deliberation, Santiago turned to Elliot, but before he could speak, Elliot already understood his intention.
"Grandpa, I know you can't bear it, especially since Stanley is your own grandson. I can compromise on this matter."
Peter's eyes lit up, eager to praise him, "Elliot, you're such an understanding child. Perhaps we could…"
Elliot interrupted him, "There's a third option between public and private punishment. Once Stanley's leg heals, he'll receive thirty lashes and serve five years in a high-security prison. Neither punishment is too severe, ensuring he doesn't lose his life. That's my only compromise."
Peter realized this meant torment from both ends and mumbled, "But Elliot…"
Elliot remained resolute. "Grandpa, Stanley is an adult and must face the consequences of his actions. These punishments won't be too severe, and I'll ensure they're administered with restraint. He'll live."
Santiago knew Elliot had compromised as much as he could.
He sighed heavily before retreating under his covers and said, "Enough. I won't interfere anymore in this matter. You're in charge, Elliot. Do as you see fit."
Peter could not hide his dismay and shouted, "Dad!"
Santiago closed his eyes, unwilling to listen any further.
"I'm tired and want to rest. All of you, leave."

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
