The cell was dimly lit, and the glint of the dagger shone brightly.
Peter gripped the handle tightly, his eyes fierce as he thrust toward Elliot's side with force.
Peter could almost envision Elliot's blood splattering as the dagger was about to pierce through Elliot's military uniform.
However, the dagger was forced to a halt just a few millimeters away.
Elliot's grip on Peter's wrist was strong, rendering him unable to move.
With a cold gaze and mocking smile, Elliot uttered, "Uncle Peter, really? Trying to murder me on my own turf? Seems like you have a death wish."
Peter was taken aback but then burst into laughter.
"I know, even if I killed you, I wouldn't be able to leave the National Investigation Bureau."
Elliot frowned and tightened his grip, causing Peter to wince in pain.
As Peter dropped the dagger, Elliot smoothly caught it, saying, "Despite knowing you can't kill me and would face consequences, you still tried. Are you trying to take me down with you?"
Elliot toyed with the sharp blade he had taken from Peter, pressing it lightly against Peter's neck.
"Your attitude makes it hard to believe your confession was the truth."
"Elliot, every word I said was true. If you don't believe me, you can verify it. At least my words are more trustworthy than the half-truth your own grandpa fed you."
Facing the dagger at his neck, Peter remained unmoved, showing no fear.
In fact, his tone carried a sense of solemnity, like an elder looking out for the younger ones.
"Elliot, Stanley is naive and easily manipulated. Since he's already been secretly taken out of the National Investigation Bureau, don't pursue him anymore. Let him go. He won't return to the Jenkins family to cause you trouble again."
Elliot stayed silent, his jaw tense.
Confronted with Peter's sudden submissive acts, he did not give a definite answer regarding Stanley's situation.
Instead, he replied coldly, "Uncle Peter, you better worry about yourself instead. Attempting to murder me with a dagger is no small matter. You were supposed to be released from this holding cell in a few days. But now, I'm afraid the Department of Justice will have to decide on the possibility of prison time."
His icy demeanor seemed to chill the air in the cramped cell, making it hard to breathe.
"As for Stanley's escape, it all depends on whether your recent confession holds any truth."
Then, Elliot stood up and left the cell, taking the dagger with him
As soon as he reached the door, Peter spoke again, his tone carrying a hint of helplessness and weariness of an elderly father's
"Elliot, I'm old now. You can do whatever you want to me. I'll trade places with Stanley, so please don't pursue him any further."
Elliot stopped in his tracks, seeming to ponder Peter's words.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
