Elliot fidgeted with his wristwatch and glanced at the time.
He asked, "Since you've looked into it, who do you think is the mastermind behind this?"
"You want my opinion?" Lance pointed to himself, feeling a bit uneasy being back by Elliot's side for official business after a long time.
Elliot's expression darkened. "It's just you and me in the elevator. Who else would I be talking to?"
Feeling irritated, he mocked, "Did you lose some brain cells after getting married and returning from vacation? Did spending too much sweet time with your wife melt your brain?"
Lance was at a loss for words, sulking slightly after being criticized.
Nonetheless, Elliot was his superior, and Lance feared him the most. Hence, he dared not say anything and silently listened to the instructions.
Once they reached the hospital's underground parking lot and got into the car, Lance finally began to share his thoughts.
"Mr. Jenkins, food safety regulations are strict. It's impossible for unlicensed producers to manufacture toxic baby formula."
Elliot sat in the back seat of the luxury car, weighing Lance's opinion.
He asked, "So, you suspect it's sourced from the black market?"
Lance nodded, then shook his head. "Not exactly 'sourced', more like produced by a major player in the black market. Mr. Asher and Ms. Adora need a large amount of formula every month. You always have Happiness Inc. deliver a whole batch for stockpiling. If the quality inspection results show that other affluent families have identical formula cans, it's likely that a significant number of these cans are produced by the black market. The mastermind behind it is probably a major player in the black market. But I still can't figure out why they're doing this and targeting only the rich. Could it be some kind of class warfare?"
Elliot remained silent for a while, staring out the window at the scenery passing by.
His gaze was cold as if recalling some unpleasant memories.
"If it's indeed class warfare, the nature of the case isn't too complicated. But if it's solely targeting the Jenkins family, this matter might be more complex than we think."
Lance sighed but said nothing, focusing on driving.
…
Elliot also increased undercover guards at the hospital, but they had not arrived yet.
Asher was crying loudly from hunger, awakening Sheena.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
