Nathaniel remembered the day Mavis bid him farewell with a smile, saying, "Good luck with your blind date!"
…
Nathaniel stared at his phone screen, lost in thought.
He suspected Mavis's sudden resignation had something to do with her returning home for the blinds dates arranged by her family.
Quickly regaining his composure, Nathaniel replied to Gideon's messages.
[Nathaniel: No need. When she settles her dues, just follow the standard resignation procedures. Whatever compensation is due, just pay it.]
Gideon replied promptly, [Mr. Nicholls, Mavis submitted her resignation letter herself, citing personal reasons. In this situation, there shouldn't be any financial compensation.]
[I said settle it as usual,] Nathaniel insisted.
It was only a few words, but Gideon could clearly feel his displeasure and dominance from the other end.
Gideon quickly responded, [Understood.]
Nathaniel was about to set down his phone when another text popped up.
It was from an unknown number, reading, [Mr. Nicholls, I'm Cassie Reynolds. Are you free for lunch today? I'd like to treat you to a meal. I might have come off a bit harsh yesterday due to my mood, and I'd like to apologize in person. Could we meet?]
When Nathaniel saw the name, he almost immediately furrowed his brows, his disdain apparent.
He replied out of courtesy, [I'm busy.]
Cassie responded with a crying emoji.
[Cassie: Mr. Nicholls, you're a gentleman. Please don't refuse me. It's just a meal.]
[Cassie: After I got home yesterday, my dad gave me a good talking-to. I apologize for my immaturity. Can I have a chance to explain myself in person? The Reynolds family is quite strict, and if I don't see you, my dad will kill me!]
Cassie sent another crying emoji.
His phone kept ringing with the message notification sound as he read them, which annoyed him.
Nathaniel's gentlemanly demeanor was selective. In the past, it was reserved only for Sheena.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
