"He's not. He's just trying to make things difficult for you and knows it's a tough ask. Don't worry too much about it. Just do what you can," Sheena reassured.
Not far away, Elliot waved at Sheena.
She quickly bid Nathaniel goodbye and joyfully walked over to her beloved husband, naturally slipping her arm through his.
Nathaniel's blue eyes dimmed as he watched the loving couple, and a distant look clouded his gaze.
Suddenly, he realized Mavis had not returned from the bathroom, and it had been quite a while.
Frowning, he scanned the crowd for her, but she was nowhere to be found.
Just then, his phone buzzed with a message from Mavis.
[Mavis: I'm waiting in the car. My ankle hurts too much.]
Seeing the message, Nathaniel's expression softened as he left the event.
Back in the car, he asked with concern, "What happened to your ankle?"
Mavis hid her emotions and responded calmly, "I'm not used to wearing high heels. They rubbed my heel raw, but it's okay. I already took care of it."
"Alright," Nathaniel replied, not noticing any change in her mood.
Then, he drove them home.
The next day, Mavis went to work as usual and sent the revised proposal to Aileen.
Her injured ankle made her walk with a noticeable limp.
On her way to the break room, she ran into Diana and her group.
Rowena blocked her path, making snide remarks.
"Well, if it isn't our amazing intern and the star of the big meeting. Mavis, what's with the limp? Did you do something you shouldn't have and got what you deserved?"
Mavis glared at them.
"You all know exactly what you've done. Do I really need to spell it out?"

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
