Mavis kept telling herself that Nathaniel was probably caught up with something and could not reply.
Yet, the longer she waited, the more anxious she became.
She nervously wrung her hands and paced the private room, her eyes glued to her phone on the table.
She wanted to see his message the moment it came through, but as time dragged on, her unease grew.
Mavis decided she could not just sit there and wait any longer.
She called Gabrielle and asked, "Gabrielle, has Nate returned home?"
Gabrielle was lounging at home with a face mask on.
Her muffled voice responded, "Nate hasn't come back. Isn't he on a date with you? Haven't you met yet?"
Nathaniel was not at home...
Mavis frowned. "I can't reach him. He texted me at noon, but now I can't contact him."
"What? He left the house hours ago, and I even helped him pick out his outfit…"
Gabrielle quickly realized something was amiss and ripped off her face mask.
"Don't worry, Mavis. I'll make some calls and find out. If you hear anything, call me right away."
"Okay."
The call swiftly ended,
Mavis felt her anxiety intensify, but there was nothing she could do but wait.
Another half-hour passed, but there was still no news from Gabrielle.
During this time, Mavis tried calling Nathaniel several more times, but his phone was still off.
She was running out of options.
Besides the Nicholls family members, Sheena was the only other person she could reach out to in Svelton.
Mavis was desperate and quickly dialed Sheena's number.
Her voice trembled with worry as she asked, "Sheena, I'm sorry to bother you at this time. Have you heard from Nate? I can't find him."

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
