After a refreshing hot shower, Mavis poured herself a glass of red wine and settled on the bed to admire the beautiful night sky.
She took a sip, her brows gradually furrowing as the sweet initial taste gave way to a spicy, bitter aftertaste.
It was much like the initial charm of meeting someone, only for it to be soured by the harshness of reality.
They said everyone would have their own past life karma, an accumulated energy of all our past thoughts, words, and actions.
What about her and Nathaniel?
Was she so indebted to him in their past life?
A wave of sadness washed over her, and the tanginess of the wine became more pronounced.
She finished the glass, fished her phone out of her bag, and sat back on the bed.
Upon turning it on, the phone lit up with dozens of missed calls and messages, many from Nathaniel.
Most of them were stern and demanding.
[Mavis, I want you to call me back within an hour.]
[Where are you? You're bold enough to do things without my permission now?]
[Who gave you the authority to fake my orders? When did I ever approve this trip?]
[Call me back immediately!]
Many more messages ensued…
Reading his messages, she could easily picture his furious expression.
In the past, she had always been the one worrying about him.
With the roles reversed, she felt a strange sense of satisfaction.
As she imagined his reaction, Nathaniel's call came through again.
Mavis simply watched the phone vibrate until it went silent once more.
Back in Froania, Nathaniel stood by the window in his voice.
His voice was cold as he ordered, "Find her. Search every inch of this planet if you have to."

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
