The elderly voice on the other end of the line was full of life.
"Nate, did you miss me? I can't believe you got married without telling the family. Don't you remember about your ol' grandma?"
While on the phone, Mildred lounged comfortably with a face mask, watching a show.
Despite being over seventy, Mildred had a youthful spirit and loved mingling with younger people.
She was beloved by everyone, from seniors to toddlers.
Nathaniel noticed her slightly accusatory tone, and despite being weary from a whole evening of work, he patiently explained, "Grandma, you were recuperating abroad for your health. I didn't want to disturb your rest with such news."
"That's more like it. Nonetheless, I want to meet my granddaughter-in-law. If you don't bring her to pick me up, you'll be in trouble, young man."
Mildred's threat held no real danger, and Nathaniel chuckled, well aware of her playful nature.
Thinking about the early morning ahead, with plans to take the kids to their entrance ceremony, Nathaniel said, "Grandma, get some rest. I'm heading home to do the same."
"Alright, young people should get their rest. See you the day after tomorrow."
Mildred blew a kiss over the phone before hanging up.
…
When Nathaniel returned to the Nicholls residence, he was surprised to find the lights in the living room still on.
Mavis was sitting on the couch, wrapped in a thin blanket, curled up as she watched TV intently.
Hearing the sound at the entrance, she turned to look at him and asked, "Have you had dinner? If not, I can make you some food."
Her hair was slightly tousled as she turned, adding a touch of messy charm to her appearance.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
