Jasmine shook her head in refusal.
"I'm too weak right now and need some time to recover. I'm sorry for the trouble, but worry not, I won't leave without giving you something in return. Once I'm fully healed, I'll come back with some compensation for you."
Kai was a pushover and agreed, especially since he needed money for the upcoming wedding.
During lunch, Kristen personally carried a meal into the small, shabby house and placed it by Jasmine's bedside.
"Kai cooked this. He added some herbs to help with your recovery."
The food seemed bland and unappetizing, looking more like something for livestock rather than a meal for a guest.
Jasmine felt no desire to eat it but did not want to make it too obvious.
"Thank you. You two are really kind. I promise I'll repay you for your help."
Then, she cautiously asked, "Callie, your skin is so smooth, but Kai's face is dry and peeling. And your demeanor is so different from the locals here. Are you really from this island?"
With Kai absent, Kristen answered honestly, "Like you, I got washed up here somehow. Kai is kind-hearted and saved me, giving me a second chance at life."
Jasmine's suspicion grew stronger with this confirmation.
"Have you ever considered that he might be deceiving you? Maybe he's just looking for a wife and brought you here to keep you on this remote island with him."
Not wanting to speak ill of Kai, Kristen changed the topic.
"When we first rescued you, you called me Kristen Serrano. Was that a mistake, or do you really know me?"
Jasmine smirked. "Oh, I definitely know you. We used to work for Mr. Declan Blackwell, and you were his most trusted person. But I'm not entirely sure if I recognized you correctly."
Kristen pondered Jasmine's words, replaying them in her mind before asking, "Is he famous in the underground world? Is he very wealthy and powerful?"
"Yes, he controls dirty money and power, engaging in underground dealings. He is ruthless, but he used to care for you deeply, almost like a daughter."
Jasmine smiled and added, "Or rather, he cared for Kristen. Since you don't remember anything, I can't be sure of your identity."

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
