On the other end of the line, Mavis's voice was tinged with urgency.
"Sheena, did something happen in Froania? A kidnapping case? I heard Callum is in the hospital?"
Sheena was taken aback.
"How did you know?"
It had only been an hour since Elliot had informed her of the situation, yet Mavis already knew about it.
Mavis sighed. "I was worried, so I've been in touch with some reporters in Froania. They informed me about the situation, but I don't have all the details. The reporter mentioned that the National Investigation Bureau and the Nicholls family had managed to keep the media from reporting on it. Can you fill me in?"
"Of course."
As Callum's biological mother, Mavis had the right to know.
"I hope you can stay calm and listen to the whole story…" Sheena explained everything that had happened without making excuses for Asher's actions.
"Mae, I'm sorry. Elliot and I are to blame for our lenient parenting, causing him to act so recklessly."
After hearing the details, Mavis remained relatively composed.
"You can't blame Asher entirely. He was also an innocent victim in this. Ultimately, the root of the problem lies with that man. He caused the harm, and now it's come full circle, affecting Callum."
That man…
In recent years, Mavis had avoided mentioning his full name.
Sheena asked, "Callum may have developed a psychological trauma. He's been in a terrible state the whole day. What are you planning to do?"
There was a long pause on the other end of the line.
Finally, Mavis made her decision.
"Sheena, I want to return to Froania."
"Are you sure? What if you accidentally run into him when you're back? What about your successful business overseas? Are you willing to give that up?"
"No," Mavis answered almost immediately. "I'm not planning to stay permanently."
…
Since Callum's mental state had not yet stabilized, he could not be discharged from the hospital.
Mildred and Gabrielle stayed with him.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
