Jealous?
What nonsense.
Nathaniel moved off her and sat on the edge of the bed, looking as composed as ever.
"As long as we're not divorced, you're still my legal wife. Anyone who tries to touch my woman during this time will face my wrath."
Mavis did not know why, but his words made her feel both relieved and frustrated.
She could not believe that she actually thought he was jealous.
He did not have feelings for her, so how could he be jealous?
He was just as possessive and overbearing as always,
It must be his obsessive need to control what he considered him. If anyone else touched what was his, he would be so disgusted that he would want to destroy what he deemed "tainted".
Mavis finally realized why his kiss was so rough, like trying to make a claim on her all over again.
Nonetheless, she decided not to dwell on it.
Rubbing her slightly swollen lips, she said, "Now that you know nothing is going on between Evan and me, can you let him go?"
Nathaniel looked at her like he was looking at a fool.
"He admitted to liking you. It's dangerous to let him stay by your side. What if he hurts you after you rejected him? I've taken care of him for your sake."
"Taken care of him? What does that mean?"
"That's my business. You just worry about yourself."
Nathaniel adjusted his suit and wiped away the blood from his lip, preparing to leave.
"Nathaniel!" Mavis quickly jumped up from the bed and grabbed his arm, her tone softening. "Evan is still my friend, no matter what."
"Exactly. Since he's my wife's friend, I'll be sure to treat him well," Nathaniel replied, a wicked smile tugging at his lips.
Mavis could sense the underlying threat in his words as if he was planning to do something terrible to Evan.
As he walked toward the door, she hurried after him.
When the door opened, Troy was still standing guard outside.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
