Late at night, the lights at the National Investigation Bureau were still burning bright as the officers on duty were working overtime, dealing with complicated cases.
Nathaniel had been there for hours, assisting the Bureau in their investigation and capture of Declan's crimes.
By the time he finally had a chance to relax, it was nearing 11 p.m.
The deputy chief's office door creaked open, and Lionel entered.
With a frustrated sigh, he removed his military jacket as he complained, "Declan's got quite the underground network. We've been digging for so long, and the evidence we've managed to collect is still not enough. I've been running back and forth all day, and it's so tiring."
Nathaniel followed him into the room and sat on the sofa, not responding to Lionel.
His mind seemed distant, not really focused on the topic at hand.
Lionel carefully folded his jacket, ensuring no wrinkle was in sight.
Then, he slumped onto the couch beside Nathaniel.
He noticed that Nathaniel had been quiet and asked, "What's on your mind?"
Nathaniel replied casually, "Just thinking about where Declan could be hiding."
Lionel snorted, not quite buying it.
"You've provided us with plenty of evidence. Even if it's mostly tied to smaller cases connected to the Nicholls family, you've been a big help. Should I put in for some recognition for you? Do you have anything in mind?"
Nathaniel smirked, playing along. "I've got my eye on your deputy chief's chair. Think you could hand that over?"
Lionel sat up straight, shooting him a glare.
"Try me, and I'll kick your ass."
Nathaniel chuckled, the tension in his expression easing for the first time that night.
He pulled a sleek gold-embossed cigarette case from his pocket and said, "Imported from Laubabwe—top-tier stuff. Care for one?"
Lionel eyed the cigarette with longing, but reason won out.
"No, thanks."
Nathaniel shrugged and lit one for himself.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
