With Elliot and Lionel personally escorting her, the crowd of reporters did not dare push their way toward Mavis.
As soon as she stepped out of the car, she spotted the two men and smiled.
"Sheena must've sent you because she's worried about me, right? I really appreciate it. Thank you," she said.
Elliot was aloof as always, and he simply nodded in acknowledgment, accepting her thanks without much expression.
Lionel, on the other hand, spoke up.
"Well, Nathaniel and I were once sworn enemies, but somehow, we ended up as friends over the years. He's a bit crazy, you know. Once he's set his sights on someone, he'll go to any lengths to keep them around. Even if it means…"
He paused, realizing he was on the verge of saying too much and potentially starting a full-on rant against Nathaniel.
"Look, I don't know everything that's gone on between you two, but I hope whatever decision you make, you have thought it through and not regret it later."
Mavis nodded, appreciating the advice.
With Elliot and Lionel by her side, the crowd of reporters parted, allowing Mavis to make her way to the courthouse steps.
The cameras zoomed in, eager to capture every flicker of emotion on her face.
What was supposed to be a simple divorce proceeding had turned into a public spectacle, with the entire affair broadcast live.
The murmurs among the crowd grew louder as people checked their watches.
It was 8:55 a.m., five minutes until the scheduled time for the divorce.
Yet, Nathaniel was nowhere to be seen.
The whispers intensified as people exchanged glances.
By 9:02 a.m., there were still no signs of Nathaniel or his car.
Mavis kept glancing at the time, growing anxious as she wondered if Nathaniel was standing her up again.
Evan leaned closer and whispered, "Mae, don't worry. All these media eyes are on you. If he dares to stand you up, you can call him out right here and now. Every move he makes affects the Nicholls Group's reputation. He wouldn't risk that."
She did not respond, her eyes fixed on the road ahead, hoping to see his arrival.
A luxury car was parked not far away from the courthouse.
Tiffany peered through her binoculars, nervously watching the scene.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
