Mavis and Dylan followed Logan to the records room.
On the way, Dylan continued to whine, "Nathaniel's accident was just his karma. Why do you feel the need to take responsibility for it?"
Mavis glared at him, and he wisely shut up.
Logan chuckled. "You seem to have a deep grudge against Nathaniel."
Dylan pointed to his injured right arm and said, "You bet! Have you ever seen anyone beat up his wife's brother so brutally? The look in his eyes… he wanted to kill me! I hate him."
Logan looked at his arm and clicked his tongue. "It's pretty bad, but you're also at fault. You shouldn't have picked a fight you couldn't win."
Dylan grumbled, "Whatever. I hate him and don't accept him as my brother-in-law."
While they criticized Nathaniel, Mavis remained silent, lost in thought.
They soon reached the records room.
Logan gestured for them to stop and said, "Outsiders aren't allowed in, and normally, we can't show you investigation files. However, Mr. Jenkins said this case is special and doesn't involve confidential information, so you can see it. Wait here, and I'll be right back."
Mavis nodded. "Okay, thank you for your help."
Logan smiled and entered the room.
A special case?
This was the second time she had heard that phrase.
She grew more curious about what could be so special that even Elliot had given her a meaningful look before.
In just five minutes, Logan returned with a sealed envelope and handed it to Mavis.
He suppressed his laugh and explained, "Well, I glanced at the contents while getting the file. It's… indeed quite special. I hope you won't get too emotional when you read it."
With that, he left, still trying to hold back his laugh.
Mavis and Dylan stood there, completely baffled.
Given Elliot and Logan's reactions, even Dylan's interest was piqued.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
