As soon as Mavis finished speaking, Dylan shot Nathaniel a smug look. If they could get Noah himself to take X-rays at his hospital, Nathaniel's trick would surely be exposed.
Nathaniel did not look directly at Dylan, but he caught the hostile glance from the corner of his eye.
Suddenly, he hissed softly, his face scrunching up as he made no effort to hide the pain in his eyes.
"What's wrong?" Mavis asked first.
He placed his palm on his knee, squeezing the bandaged leg as he replied, "It suddenly hurts a lot. I don't know why."
The doctor quickly understood and explained, "Mrs. Nicholls, Mr. Nicholls just underwent a series of treatments, and he needs proper rest. It's not advisable to put him through extensive X-rays right now. It could negatively impact the recovery of his leg from the previous accident."
If not for that last sentence, Mavis might have believed Nathaniel's act. Instead of exposing Nathaniel in front of the doctor, she went along with it.
"Alright, we'll go home to rest for now and visit another hospital for a check-up in a few days."
The doctor smiled and nodded slightly. "That's fine. Mr. Nicholls doesn't need to be hospitalized. You're free to go."
After the doctor left, Dylan volunteered to push Nathaniel's wheelchair.
"Let me do it. It was my mistake that caused you to fall down the stairs. I should make up for it."
Nathaniel refused. "You can't push well with one hand, and I don't want you injuring my right leg after the left. Then I'd really be crippled."
He turned to Mavis, grabbing her wrist, and added, "I'll only feel safe if my wife pushes me herself."
Mavis glanced at him, ignoring his intense gaze, and helped push the wheelchair.
As the two moved ahead, Dylan threw air punches behind them.
"What an actor! He should be a movie star. He's got some nerve bossing around his soon-to-be ex-wife like he's royalty. I swear I'll expose his tricks in public!" Dylan muttered, his brows furrowed tightly.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
