Nathaniel's frown deepened. He had not felt this frustrated in a long time.
"It's my fault," Nathaniel admitted.
Evan had already returned to Vraeyce and would not be constantly around Mavis anymore. Even if Mavis were worried about him, it would be temporary. Hence, he should not have mentioned anything about that man just now.
As a result, his old issues with Kristen dragged on, turning a situation where he was right into one where he was wrong.
Troy said, "That's better. When Mrs. Nicholls returns, control your temper, be nice, and don't argue anymore."
"Mm," Nathaniel grunted in agreement.
A couple of minutes later, Mavis returned with a grim expression. Her gaze toward Nathaniel was icy, with a hint of disbelief and scrutiny.
Nathaniel quickly noticed her unusual expression and asked, "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Evan's sister went to his place, but he wasn't there. She checked his flight from two days ago and found out he left during boarding and never got on the plane."
Nathaniel furrowed his brow. "Looks like he didn't want to leave Froania himself."
"No, his phone is turned off, so he's probably missing. I suspect he's still in Froania and has been kidnapped."
Nathaniel scoffed. "He barely knows anyone in Froania. Besides, he's a grown man. If he chose to leave the airport, how is that anyone else's fault?"
As soon as he finished speaking, he turned to see Mavis still staring at him with that scrutinizing look, her gaze ice-cold as if she were looking at a stranger.
He immediately realized what she was thinking.
"You suspect I had someone kidnap Evan?"
Mavis retorted, "Isn't that the case?"
Nathaniel felt a chill in his heart, never feeling so wrongly accused. "You don't trust me at all?"
"How can I trust you? It's not like you haven't kidnapped him before. The last time he just got off the plane, he received your 'warm welcome'. Have you forgotten so quickly?"

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
