Nathaniel left the National Investigation Bureau and rushed to the hospital.
In the hallway of Evan's ward, Nathaniel spotted Troy from afar and frowned. "Why are you out here? Didn't I tell you to watch over Mavis?"
Troy replied bitterly, "I got caught in the crossfire, sir. Mrs. Nicholls doesn't want to see me. She said if I must monitor her, I should do it from afar and stay out of her sight."
"I sent you to ensure her safety, not to spy on her."
Troy looked shocked. "Do you even believe that yourself, sir?"
It was clear that Nathaniel had sent Troy to keep an eye on Mavis and Evan, who were alone together, fearing Evan might use his injuries to cling to Mavis.
Troy asked, "Do you know why Mrs. Nicholls doesn't trust you?"
Nathaniel raised an eyebrow, puzzled.
"It's because you always tell the truth as if it's a lie and lies as if they're the truth. After a while, it's no wonder Mrs. Nicholls doesn't believe you anymore."
The truth hurt, but Troy's words, though unpleasant, were honest and heartfelt.
Surprisingly, Nathaniel did not lose his temper and simply replied, "Got it."
He walked past Troy and found Evan's room. As he was about to knock, the door opened from the inside.
Holding a water cup, Mavis was about to get some water when she bumped into him.
Their eyes met, and the atmosphere grew heavy with tension.
Mavis closed the door behind her and broke the oppressive silence. "Are you done with your statement?"
"Yes," Nathaniel nodded. "Since the bureau has no evidence, your report can only be used as a reference for the case. They just questioned me and let me go."

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
