The little boy hung his head in defeat, pouting as he grumbled, "I'm sorry for making you two worry…"
"It's okay," Mavis reassured, stroking Callum's fuzzy short hair. She gently comforted him, then shot Nathaniel a warning glance, silently telling him to soften his tone.
Nathaniel continued in a more measured voice, "What happened next?"
Callum thought carefully and replied, "I passed out, and Ms. Sullivan stuffed me in the bathroom. I vaguely heard her talking with Mr. Mueller about how to get rid of me. Mr. Mueller said without me, Mommy and Daddy would split up for good. After that, I blacked out again. When I woke up, I was in a hotel room. Ms. Sullivan had two weird guys watching me. The fat one liked to eat, so I figured out a way… Then, they caught me, and that's when you found me."
Nathaniel listened intently, his expression grave. "Since you escaped into the park and knew we put out a reward with the National Investigation Bureau, why didn't you ask passersby for help?"
The boy froze, bewildered. After a long moment, tears welled up in his eyes.
"I-I forgot. I was so scared. The fat guy and the skinny one were chasing me so fast, I-I could only think about running away."
He grew more upset as he thought about it, frustrated enough to tap his own forehead.
"I'm so stupid. If it were Asher or Adora, they wouldn't have been as dumb as me..,"
Mavis quickly consoled him. "Sweetie, you aren't stupid at all. You figured out those criminals' weaknesses so quickly and managed to escape. That's amazing. Making mistakes when scared and nervous is normal, but you got away and weren't hurt. I'm so proud of you, Callum."
Callum's eyes gradually brightened, though he still seemed unsure. "Really?"
"Of course it's true. Have I ever lied to you?" She turned to Nathaniel, giving him a meaningful look. "Isn't that right?"
Nathaniel's expression remained neutral as he gave a brief sound of agreement.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
