Goodbye, My Love novel Chapter 6

As tears fell onto the phone's screen, Sabrina reached up to touch her face. Only then did she realize it was wet with tears.

She was already about to leave, and she'd reminded herself not to be sad anymore. Yet her heart still ached at the sight of these happy moments meant to challenge her. The pain was suffocating.

Everyone knew Jordan and Ansel loved her dearly, but she'd also given them her heart and soul. Despite being filthy rich, Jordan had been lonely. She'd been by his side whenever he'd needed her. She'd celebrated his birthday with him and brought him an umbrella when it rained.

She'd waited for him to come home every night and had always been there whenever he'd been down. All he'd needed to do was turn around, and she'd been there for him.

As for Ansel, it went without saying how much she'd gone through for him. She'd carried him to term and almost died while giving birth to him. She'd been by his side as he'd grown up and taught him the ways of the world. She'd given Jordan and Ansel all the love she had.

Her heart and sincerity meant nothing, though. All she'd gotten in return was betrayal.

Sabrina didn't want to see any more evidence of Jordan and Ansel's disloyalty, so she locked her phone. This seemed to make Holly panic—she called Sabrina impatiently.

This time, her tone was no longer humble and respectful. Instead, it was arrogant and mocking.

"I know you've already seen the photos, Mrs. Faust. For the past year, Mr. Faust and Mr. Ansel have spent more time by my side than they have by yours. Don't think they still love you—if they did, why would I still be around? You'd better make way for me if you know what's good for you!"

Holly was right. If Jordan and Ansel still loved Sabrina, why would Holly be in their lives?

Sabrina didn't say anything. She recorded the conversation before hanging up.

When Jordan entered the ward, he saw her lying in bed, her eyes still red. It was clear she'd cried. His heart ached, and he hurried to her, holding her face as he scrutinized her. "Why did you cry, Rina? What happened?"

She looked at him quietly for a long time. She'd never known him to be such a good actor. After taking a deep breath, she said, "Nothing's happened. I was just moved to tears after seeing some photos and a video."

He relaxed and tapped her nose. "What could possibly be touching enough to make you cry?"

She held out her phone. "Do you want to see them?"

He smiled and agreed. Before he could take her phone, his rang. He glanced at the screen before looking at her hesitantly. "I have something to attend to at work, Rina. I…"

Sabrina pretended not to see Holly's name on the screen and took back her phone. "It's fine. Go to work—I'm going to rest anyway."
