Half a minute later, Leonardo sat on the leather couch, holding the coffee Samantha brought him.
Reaching out, Samantha checked the coffee's temperature with her finger. It wasn't lukewarm anymore, and it was cold.
She sighed as she failed to deliver a hot coffee to him.
Leonardo took a sip with a smile. "It's not bad."
Samantha still felt kind of bummed out. "It was supposed to be hot."
He tried to soothe her, gently coaxing, "Sweetheart, I usually drink iced long black."
That only made her more upset, though.
"Why are you drinking cold coffee in the middle of the winter?"
He responded, "I'm used to it."
Samantha turned away, looking a little frustrated. "Go ahead and drink it. I don't care if your stomach is upset. Whose fault would that be?"
Leonardo was too stunned to speak. He didn't know Samantha could speak in such a tone, which was so adorable. He apologized, "I won't put ice in it next time, is that okay?"
Samantha grunted and said nothing else, but it was clear she was compromising.
Changing the subject, Leonardo asked, "Have you found a house you like?"
She replied, "Yes."
As expected, she got distracted and started talking about how her house hunting went. She was set on convincing him that the house was totally worth his money.
Leonardo played with Samantha's hand, as if he didn't mind the details. "As long as you like it, I think it's a good buy."
She continued, "By the way, I got the coffee from there. Ethan bought it, but I don't drink coffee. When I saw it, I thought of you, so I brought you one."
There was plenty of information in what Samantha had said, but what Leonardo cared about the most was the last part. She mentioned thinking about him when she saw coffee, and those words were more romantic than any pickup lines.
