Reborn to Burn Them All novel Chapter 71

Chapter 71

Chapter 71

Sophia couldn’t possibly sleep through the noise outside. When she opened the door, she saw Howard pushing Yvette and Heather down the stairs. A small shiny object rolled to her feet, quietly recording the chaos.

Screams filled the air, but Sophia just kicked the device back into her room, shutting the door. She plopped onto her bed and rolled around, loving the moment as if it were the best part of her day.

Did anyone die? If so, that would be funny. But from that height? Probably no one died, she muttered; her grin disappearing just as fast. Howard’s craziness hurt Yvette, and it might pull her into trouble too.

But as long as the fights kept happening, Sophia didn’t mind who got hurtor who died. Even if no one died, the chaos in the Chandler family was enough to keep her entertained.

Sophia spent the morning lounging in bed, playing with the smooth, round metal object in her hands. She even had meals delivered to her room and enjoyed a long nap. When she finally got up to clean herself, she was careful, but nothing strange happened.

As she walked downstairs, she took each step slowly and cautiously, but everything stayed quiet. Confused, Sophia jumped up a couple of times, and said, Is something wrong? Maybe there’s a delay. She chuckled at her own thought.

You think it’s funny to laugh after sleeping through all that noise at home?a voice interrupted her. Sophia looked up to see Sean standing there, his face dark and full of anger.

Her smile widened. I’m just naturally cheerful. Jealous, huh?

Sean glared at her, demanding, All that chaos, and you just stayed in your room? How can you laugh about it now?

Sophia met his cold stare without flinching, her tone unapologetic. Oh, I did see. I saw the choking, the shoving, and people being pushed down the stairs. They might die, you know.”

Sean’s face got even gloomier, his eyes sharp and cold.

Sophia tilted her chin defiantly and raised her voice, Howard’s completely lost it. He’s attacking his own mom and sister. Do you think I’d jump into that disaster? Dream on.

I’m your sister. And you want me dead? You’re heartless,” she added.

Sean couldn’t find a comeback. His face was gloomy, and the heavy vibe around him practically shouted, Stay away.

When Jonathan walked in, Sophia smirked and said, I’ve been saying it foreverYvette’s a walking disaster. She messed up the Sampson family, and now she’s here to ruin ours. Howard’s just the start; the real fun is still coming.

Sean frowned deeply. Is it Yvette, or is it you? You know the answer.

Me?Sophia laughed out loud. Ever since Yvette came back, we’ve been off. First me, then Howardwho’s next, I wonder?

She said, Before she came back, everything was smooth. Now? It’s all storms.

Not that it bothers me. I’m young, after all. But can you handle it? If we’re not careful, we’ll end up like the Sampson family. What a mess that would be.

I’m saving up. I don’t want to end up like the Sampsons. Their family is heading straight for a meltdown.

Jonathan’s expression grew serious. Unable to vent his frustration on Sophia, he turned to Sean with annoyance. I told you to grab a file. Why are you still here?

Sean said, I’m leaving now. Before walking out, he shot a cold glare at Sophia, as if warning her.

Sophia said, Keep staring at me like that, and I’ll pluck your eyes out.

Sean didn’t argue back. He grabbed the file and left.

Jonathan sat on the couch, sipping the coffe

a servant had brought. Sophia, Heather and Yvette are in the hospital. You should go check on them

I’m not going.Sophia replied flatly.

Jonathan rubbed his temples, clearly stressed. Do we really have to take it this far?he asked helplessly.

Sophia scoffed, sounding incredulous. You think I’m the one causing trouble? It’s all Yvette’s fault. She’s the real curse here.

Jonathan sighed heavily. Sophia, you used to be such a good kid. You never caused us trouble. What happened to you?

Sophia shrugged. You’re right. I used to be sweet and thoughtful. But ever since Yvette came back, everything’s been chaos. Howard’s lost it, Heather got pushed down the stairs, and we don’t even know if she’s okay.”

Right now, you and Sean are the only ones in the Chandler family still doing fine. Wonder who’s next?she added sharply.

Jonathan was left speechless. As he kept hearing her words over and over, he started getting brainwashed.

Her words kept echoing in his mind, making him feel anxious, almost paranoid.

Seeing him upset, Sophia leaned in closer and sat next to him, her face full of mystery. Hey, Jonathan, want to know a little secret?

Jonathan looked at her. What?

Sophia seemed to hesitate. Heather told me not to tell you. She gave me a lot of money to keep quiet.

Jonathan frowned. What’s this about?

Sophia replied, It’s about a secret child.

Jonathan looked confused, and Sophia added teasingly, Jonathan, you don’t really have a secret love child, do you?

Jonathan’s expression turned dark, and his voice sharpened. What nonsense are you saying? There’s no such thing.”

Really? If that’s true, then why did Heather give me hush money? Did her motherly instincts suddenly kick in and she decided to be nice to me?Sophia

mocked.

She mumbled to herself as she walked over to the dining table and started eating. Jonathan watched her, her words bringing back memories he had long
