In the middle of the night, Nathaniel was jolted awake by the sound of crying.
It was Adora, sitting up in bed, sobbing uncontrollably.
Still groggy, Nathaniel saw her tear-streaked face and felt a pang of sadness.
Her big, watery eyes were red from crying.
"Adora, what's wrong? Don't be scared; I'm here. Did you have a bad dream?"
Adora grabbed his hand and clung to him, her face full of fear and confusion.
"I-I dreamed about Mommy. Mommy was hurt, and she didn't want me anymore…"
Her sobbing made her words muffled and distorted, but Nathaniel guessed what she was trying to say as he paid extra attention.
"Adora, sweetheart, your mommy would never leave you. She loves you so much. And your daddy… and I, we will always protect her. It was just a nightmare. It's not real."
He spoke softly, his large hand gently patting her back to soothe her.
Adora clung to his shirt, wiping her tears and snot on it as she cried.
"Uncle Nate, I miss Mommy so much. Can you take me to her? I want her to cuddle me to sleep."
Nathaniel was at a loss for words.
Seeing her cry so desperately, he felt helpless and distressed.
He decided to try calling Elliot.
He dialed once, twice, thrice…
Yet, the phone was off each time.
Nathaniel felt a growing sense of unease.
If Elliot was only worried about the Reynolds family's killer targeting the children, he could have sent armed guards with them back to the Jenkins estate.
Instead, Elliot had ordered Lionel to pack the kids' clothes and have them stay at the lab for a few days.
It was all very bizarre.
"Uncle Nate, I can't sleep. I need Mommy to kiss me goodnight. I can only sleep when I'm holding Mommy."

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
