"Mr. Nicholls isn't the type to be swayed by looks. She must have some exceptional skills to catch his attention. I remember her presenting a proposal at the staff meeting. The confidence and quick thinking she displayed is impressive."
"Who knows? Mr. Nicholls's thoughts are beyond our grasp. Let's just focus on our work."
Discussions like these became a daily occurrence after Mavis became Nathaniel's assistant.
At her desk on the top floor, Mavis organized the files in front of her.
It was only after becoming his assistant that she realized how many tasks Nathaniel had to handle each day.
Suddenly, the phone on her desk rang.
It was the direct line to Nathaniel's office.
Mavis cleared her throat and quickly answered, "Mr. Nicholls, how can I assist you?"
During work hours, she addressed him as Mr. Nicholls.
"Bring me a cup of coffee, slightly sweetened, hot but not burning hot."
Before Mavis could respond, the line went dead.
What on earth?
Slightly sweetened, hot, but not burning hot?
How was she supposed to know his exact preference?
Previously, Nathaniel had complained that the coffee was either too hot or too cold.
So, he had given her a specific temperature range.
Mavis felt a headache coming on.
To make matters worse, he only liked freshly ground coffee, and the process always left her hands aching.
If he was dissatisfied, she had to start over from scratch.
The sound of the hand grinder filled the break room, and Mavis refocused on her task, carefully adjusting the coffee and milk ratio.
Then, she added a bit of sugar, feeling the cup's temperature with her hand.
Hot, but not burning hot…
That would mean the coffee should be just warm enough, right?
Maybe?

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
