Tommy paused.
Then, he directed someone to take Mavis's things to her room before explaining the entire situation.
When Nathaniel jumped into the sea, Tommy had only heard the sound.
He did not know exactly when Nathaniel jumped or where he had been shot.
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Nicholls. I was under the influence of the anesthetic at the time. I don't know… his exact condition," Tommy stated, bowing his head in frustration.
If he had been able to save Nathaniel in time, this would not have happened.
Mavis sat numbly on a chair, feeling utterly lost.
She had come all this way, hoping to see Nathaniel, but reality had dealt her a harsh blow.
Not only had she not seen him, but he was also missing and possibly in grave danger.
"Tommy, I want to go look for him," Mavis said with determination.
Tommy noticed her eyes were bloodshot, realizing she must have not rested well in days.
"Mrs. Nicholls, Mr. Nicholls is missing now. Please stay here and rest. If you faint, I won't have the energy to handle everything."
Mavis reluctantly sat down to avoid causing more trouble for Tommy.
Night fell late in Gurenchti.
The local time showed it was 9 p.m., but it had just started to get dark.
Mavis sat by the window for three hours, her mind in turmoil.
Suddenly, her phone vibrated.
She quickly unlocked the screen, only to find it was just an entertainment news notification.
Annoyed, she tossed the phone aside.
Then, it struck her. She could contact a local friend for help!
No matter how powerful the Nicholls were, this was not Svelton.
It would be easier for someone from the area to help out.
She remembered she had a friend working in Gurenchti.
Though they had not spoken in a while, it was worth a try to see if they could assist.
Mavis quickly retrieved her phone and found the contact.
She dialed the number, and to her surprise, it was answered almost immediately.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
