Seeing her soaked, Tommy immediately removed his jacket to offer it to Mavis, but she refused.
She was the focus of the company's gossip, and any man seen with her might get dragged into the rumors.
She did not want Tommy to be affected.
"Thank you," Mavis said, hugging herself tightly, shivering as she walked toward the elevator.
Tommy glanced around.
This area was a blind spot for surveillance cameras, and with the irregular traffic, identifying the culprit would be challenging.
Given the recent gossip, Tommy frowned, determined to get to the bottom of it.
The elevator was also air-conditioned, and Mavis hugged herself tighter, sneezing multiple times.
When she returned to the top floor, she ran into Nathaniel as he stepped out of his office.
Their eyes met briefly before Mavis quickly looked away and hurried to her desk.
Her strained relationship with Nathaniel had drained her emotionally and physically, leaving her unable to focus on work.
She made frequent mistakes while sorting documents, and Nathaniel's reprimands did not ease up.
She was exhausted, both in body and spirit.
She felt so cold, but it was nothing compared to the chill in her heart.
Mavis felt like she was reaching her limit; she did not know how much longer she could hold on.
"Achoo!" Mavis sneezed again, feeling helpless and dizzy.
Thinking Nathaniel had already left, she slumped onto her desk, curling up, and fell asleep within minutes.
Nathaniel was still standing nearby, and he frowned slightly as his gaze lingered on her.
Mavis felt cold…
So, so cold.
Mavis felt herself being lifted, but her eyelids were too heavy to open.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
