Mavis sneered at how quickly Nathaniel's tone had changed.
"So what if I am?"
Picking up on her irritation, Nathaniel pressed on. "Are you two in Gurenchti?"
He had heard Sheena talking about traveling abroad but had not realized she would leave so soon.
He had wanted to see her off.
Frustrated with his constant questions about Sheena, Mavis lost all desire to talk and hung up on him.
Just then, Sheena emerged from the suite's bedroom.
Noticing Mavis's troubled expression, she approached and asked, "What's wrong? You don't look well."
Mavis forced a smile, trying to sound casual as she replied, "It's nothing, Sheena. Did you not rest?"
Sheena motioned to the staff behind her, directing them to set out a spread of exquisite dishes.
"It's almost lunchtime, and I didn't hear a peep from you. I thought I'd come and have lunch with you. Even if you're jet-lagged, you shouldn't sleep too much, or you'll feel worse."
Seeing the concern in Mavis's eyes, Sheena pulled her to sit on the sofa.
She gently probed, "Was that Nathaniel on the phone?"
Only someone she cared about could affect her mood so deeply.
Mavis did not answer, but her silence spoke volumes.
Sheena smiled gently. "Mae, you need to learn not to let anyone's words or actions affect your mood. Women don't need to rely on men to stand tall in this world. This is a new era. No one can be your obstacle unless you let them. You need to be independent and continue improving yourself. With power, no one can threaten you with their so-called affection."
Sheena understood Mavis's current dilemma.
She was caught in a web of emotions and needed someone to help her.
Sheena understood Mavis well enough to know she was not someone who would be easily defeated.
Once Mavis realized what she truly wanted, everything would fall into place.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
