Although Sheena also felt for these people's plight, she was not a saint and lacked the power to save everyone.
Hence, she could only hope they would eventually find peace.
Mavis nodded, lowering her eyes as she gripped Sheena's hand tightly.
The luxury car continued forward, and they heard cheers from up ahead.
Logan had thoroughly researched the area beforehand and explained, "This is the largest arena in the Golden Triangle. The people seated in the top area are the wealthy elite of the Golden Triangle, and the fighters below are slaves owned by them. They gain pleasure from betting on the outcome of these fights."
Mavis had heard about such arenas before, but they typically involved animals.
Why were people used here?
Seeming to read her mind, Sheena shook her head.
"When you can't protect yourself, your life means nothing to others. They don't have the luxury of choice."
The outskirts of the arena were stained with blood, and some clothed figures were hung around the perimeter, their bodies battered and bloodied.
Mavis could not hold back and began to retch.
Sheena quickly grabbed some tissues and handed her a bottle of water, gently patting her back.
"Anything immoral is considered reasonable here because there are no rules. Take a moment to recover. We're almost there."
Mavis took two large gulps of water and closed the car window, avoiding the sight.
The image of those bloodied bodies hanging around the arena lingered in her mind.
After a while, the nausea subsided, and they finally arrived at Bauro.
"We're here. Let's get out of the car," Sheena said, putting on a pair of sunglasses and handing another pair to Mavis.
She also donned a local shawl before stepping out of the car.
Suddenly, another flashy off-road vehicle pulled up beside them, and a man in a suit and gold-framed glasses stepped out.
Seeing him, Mavis smiled and walked up to greet him with a polite hug.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
