Luckily, Adora was wearing various protective gear, so the fall was not too bad.
Mavis quickly skated over, helping her stand and teaching her how to balance on the ice and some basic skating techniques.
Adora had impressive athletic talent.
She managed to grasp the basics and could glide across the ice in no time.
"Auntie Mae, look! I can do it! I want to learn how to jump like those big kids!" Adora skated toward her, picking up speed.
Mavis watched nervously and could not help but shout, "Careful! Adora, slow down!"
However, once she picked up speed, it was hard for a beginner like Adora to slow down.
She attempted a jump, lost her balance, and panic spread across her face as she sped toward the barrier.
"Auntie Mae! Asher! Help!"
Asher had been skating beside her.
When he saw she was about to crash into the barrier, he sped up to try and block her with his body.
However, Mavis was faster.
She swooped in, grabbing both kids and taking the fall herself.
Her back hit the ice hard, sending a jolt of pain through her.
Even so, her mind was on the children's safety, and she quickly asked, "Are you both okay? Did you get hurt?"
Adora was scared out of her wits and clung tightly to Mavis, shaking her head.
Asher tried to get up from Mavis's hold and asked worriedly, "Are you okay?"
With such a heavy impact, it must have hurt a lot.
The pain in her back made it hard to breathe, but she did not want to worry the kids.
She bit her lip and said, "I'm fine, Asher. Really, I'm okay. Adora must be really scared. Let's get up."
With Asher's help, Mavis stood up, brushing the ice off Adora.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
