Back at the Nicholls residence, Gabrielle and Marius were already waiting.

When Mildred got out of the car, Gabrielle ran over and hugged her tightly.

"Grandma, you're finally back! I've been thinking about you every day!"

Mildred playfully tapped Gabrielle's nose.

"Young lady, don't try to fool me. If you missed me so much, why didn't you come to visit?"

Gabrielle stuck out her tongue, feeling a little guilty.

"Oh, I wanted to, but I was so busy with things here that I couldn't find the time."

"If you think I don't know your tricks, you're wrong. Trying to fool me, are you?" Mildred chuckled, then turned to Marius. "Marius, you've lost weight again. Has Nate been giving you a hard time?"

Hearing Mildred mention him again, Nathaniel's expression darkened.

Marius quickly explained, "No, Grandma. I've been busy with a new project. Nate's been handling the company, and he's the one working the hardest."

"Alright, Grandma, let's not stand outside any longer. I've prepared your room. Come in and see," Gabrielle said, leading Mildred inside.

Mavis walked behind them, relieved as Mildred seemed easy to get along with.

Lost in thought, she fell behind the group.

Nathaniel turned and saw her lagging behind.

He stopped and asked, "Why are you walking so slowly? Aren't you cold?"

Snapping out of her thoughts, Mavis hurried to catch up.

As soon as they entered the house, Mildred took Mavis's hand.

"What were you busy with outside? Gabrielle told me you're a wonderful girl. It's my fault for not meeting you sooner."
