Suddenly, Mavis's phone rang.
It was Sheena calling.
When Mavis saw the caller ID, she swallowed her pain and composed herself before answering, "Sheena, what's up?"
Sheena was unaware of what Mavis had been going through.
She called because she was concerned about how Nathaniel would react to news of the pregnancy.
Adora overheard her voice and immediately chimed in.
"Auntie Mae, you left in such a hurry! I finished my camp course today. Why didn't you stay a few more days with me?"
Hearing the child's innocent voice, Mavis felt a pang of pain in her heart.
"But Adora, you didn't tell me the course was ending. I had important things to do, so I came back early. Next time, I promise to stay longer with you, okay?"
Adora cheerfully agreed, "Okay, Auntie Mae, don't forget! I hold grudges, you know."
Both Sheena and Mavis could not help but laugh at that.
Then, Sheena told Adora to go play, explaining that she had something important to discuss with Mavis.
Adora obediently left but gave the phone a meaningful look as if she had more to tell Sheena.
Mavis said, "Adora is so playful and adorable. Compared to Asher, who's so calm, Adora is quite lively. They're twins, but their personalities are so different."
Sheena sighed, "Yeah. She used to be noisy and mischievous. After her dad sent her to camp, she's even more energetic and quick-witted."
"You have such a happy family, Sheena. I'm so envious of you," Mavis remarked with a touch of wistfulness.
Sheena sensed something was off, realizing things were not going as smoothly as hoped.
"You haven't told Nathaniel about the pregnancy, have you?"

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
