Feeling a little off-balance, Mavis had to wrap her arms around his neck to steady herself.
"Sit down. Just watch us work from the sidelines."
Mavis was clearly displeased and retorted, "That's what you think. Please don't project your views on me."
"It's just a suggestion for pregnant women," Nathaniel tried to justify.
"I don't accept that suggestion."
"It's alright. You'll come around. The work is secondary. You and the baby's safety are the top priority."
Mavis thought he was still as domineering as ever, and her irritation grew.
"Nathaniel, didn't I make myself clear yesterday? I have a new man now. Shouldn't you be keeping your distance from me?"
Nathaniel's brow furrowed slightly, and his jawline tensed as he replied coldly, "We're legally married. If anyone needs to keep their distance, it should be that so-called new man of yours."
His logic was hard to argue with.
Mavis was too tired to continue the discussion.
He bent down, gently placing her in a chair and draping his coat over her shoulders.
"The evening breeze here is cold. Don't get chilled. If you're cold sitting out here, go back and rest early."
His soft and caring tone caught Mavis off guard, but only for a moment.
She quickly shrugged off his coat and tossed it to the ground.
Nathaniel's gaze darkened, but he said nothing more and returned to the fields.
As evening fell, the red glow of sunset faded, and the chill of the wind set in.
It was indeed getting cold.
Even though Mavis did not care much about herself, she had to consider the baby she was carrying.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
