In the early afternoon, Nathaniel had just finished a meeting and spotted a small cake box that Tommy had delivered to his desk.
It was a strawberry cream cake.
Callum had been in a bad mood lately. Since he loved desserts, Nathaniel planned to use the cake to cheer him up.
"Tommy, have the marketing director e-mail me all the project reports he's been working on. Also…"
Before Nathaniel could finish his instructions over the intercom, his desk phone rang.
It was a call from the Nicholls residence's security team.
Nathaniel was puzzled.
Why would they call him at this time of day?
As soon as he answered the phone, the bodyguard reported, "Mr. Nicholls… um… it seems Mr. Callum is missing."
His face darkened.
"How could you lose such a young child at home?"
"I'm sorry. It was our mistake. Mr. Callum was playing with Ms. Adora just ten minutes ago. Ms. Adora said she lost Mr. Callum's bracelet and asked us to help find it. Then… Mr. Callum disappeared, and so did Ms. Adora."
"Check the surveillance footage."
"We did. They have already left the mansion. They took a route that was in the blind spot of the surveillance cameras, and since they're so small, we can't see where they went."
Nathaniel was silent for a moment.
If they had managed to avoid the surveillance, Callum unlikely had planned it.
It sounded more like something Adora would do.
While he was considering this, the bodyguard on the other end hesitantly called out, "Mr. Nicholls…"
