Asher lowered his gaze, his fingers twisting the blanket into crumpled folds.
His pale face looked even more somber.
The room fell into silence for a long time.
After what seemed like an eternity, Asher finally spoke.
"I'm sorry. I know I shouldn't have done this, and I know it's unfair to Callum. What happened yesterday might leave him with lasting trauma and nightmares. But, Dad, I've endured eleven years of suffering because of Nathaniel. The bioweapon was also an unshakeable nightmare for me. I was just… trying to make Callum endure the pain he brought me. I—"
As he spoke, his voice grew fainter, his resolve diminished by Elliot's presence.
Elliot was stunned.
After raising Asher in a pampered environment for eleven years, he realized he had never truly understood his son's thoughts.
He had assumed Asher was merely aloof, forgetting that his son was extraordinarily intelligent.
By age five, he could solve middle school math problems, and he consistently won awards in various academic competitions. From a young age, he was interested in adult topics like psychology, criminology, and economics.
This time, Asher had even risked his and Callum's lives as part of a gamble.
"Asher, you're acting so irrational and schemeful. It's like I'm staring at a stranger," Elliot expressed his shock.
Asher's heart fluttered.
He bit his lip hard, his eyes reddening as he asked, "Yes, I made a mistake. I noticed the kidnappers were watching us from the shadows, yet I still led Callum into danger. So… are you going to punish me?"
Elliot was momentarily speechless.
"Did I violate your principles this time?" Asher asked, his gaze lowered, fingers nervously twisting the blanket to hide his anxiety.
"If I did, take me to the altar room. I'll accept any punishment you see fit."

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
