Nathaniel ignored Mavis's glare and quickly snatched the phone from her hand.
"Give it back!"
Evan keenly noticed something was up.
"Mae, is there someone beside you?"
Mavis tried to get her phone back and explain, but Nathaniel was a step ahead.
He brought the phone to his ear and asked, "Who are you?"
There was a brief pause on the other end before Evan replied, "Who am I? Who the hell are you? I'm Mae's boyfriend, and if you so much as hurt her, you'll regret it!"
Mavis was stunned.
"Boyfriend?" Nathaniel was intrigued, a cold smirk tugging at his lips. "Well, isn't this interesting? I'm her husband."
"Y-You're—"
Nathaniel swiftly ended the call.
He gripped Mavis's wrist again, his gaze piercing as he demanded, "Is he really your boyfriend?"
Mavis avoided his gaze, weakly mumbling, "That's none of your business."
Anger surged in him as he questioned, "None of my business? Based on your conversation, you were planning to bring Callum there to meet him. Are you going to raise Callum with him? Is that why you faked your death and left? For him?"
Mavis was bewildered by his line of thought. Yet, she did not want to explain herself, especially not when she felt just as bitter.
"Why should I explain anything to you? You're the one who's been neglecting Callum, spending time with other women, and probably planning to find him a new stepmother! What right do you have to question me? And stop looking at me like I'm the one who's done something wrong."
Nathaniel chuckled. "Other women? I've never once said I was looking for a new mother for our son."
Mavis was not interested in arguing with him further. "Whatever. The truth is, you've never really changed."
Back when Nathaniel brought Kristen into the Nicholls Group, it became obvious to nearly everyone that there was something more than just a platonic relationship between them.
It seemed clear that Nathaniel had feelings for her, even if he never admitted it and insisted he treated her like a sister.
Mavis thought it was typical for jerks like him to use that as an excuse.
Suddenly, everyone was just like a sister?
Mavis felt a coldness settle in her heart as she turned her gaze toward the glowing emergency exit sign on the wall.
Nathaniel pulled her closer, forcing her to face him. "If you're going to accuse someone, at least have evidence. Don't just throw labels around."
"Whatever your personal affairs are, they don't concern me. Mr. Nicholls, let's talk about what matters: our divorce and Callum's custody."
Nathaniel's eyes darkened, and his grip around her waist tightened.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
