As the luxury car pulled up in front of an old apartment building, Nathaniel got out first.
He was ready to carry Mavis out, but she scooted to the other side of the seat, clearly resisting.
"I can walk on my own."
Nathaniel was not swayed by her words.
"It's uncomfortable being carried like that. I'm going to be sick."
Her face was indeed paler, and she spoke in a much softer tone.
Nathaniel hesitated.
In the end, he still carried her out of the car, but this time, he held her in his arms rather than over his shoulder.
"Stay still. This building only has stairs. If you fall, you might break a leg."
He glanced at her, adding with a smirk, "How would you take care of Callum if you're crippled?"
As much as she hated to admit it, he had a point.
With her hands still tied, she was forced to loop them around Nathaniel's neck as he carried her up the stairs.
Her old unit was on the eighth floor, and there was no elevator. Yet, Nathaniel carried her up effortlessly, not even breaking a sweat.
Occasionally, he glanced at her as if he found her too light.
Mavis did not know why, but her ears turned red, and an odd feeling welled up inside her.
It was confusing, and she was not happy about it.
"Nathaniel, you're still as annoying as ever."
"Am I the most annoying person you know?"
"Yes, the most."
"Then should I be honored?"
Nathaniel said it with a grin, further infuriating Mavis.
What a jerk!

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
