The sound of rain pattered softly against the window, adding to the warm, cozy atmosphere of the bedroom.
Mavis stood by the bed, her gaze cautious as she looked at the man beside her.
They had been living apart for five years and were currently discussing divorce and custody arrangements.
It felt wrong to share a bed, even if Callum was between them.
It did not seem appropriate.
However, she could not bring herself to be the one to ruin this moment. She noticed how Callum's tiny hands clung to Nathaniel's shirt, his head resting comfortably on Nathaniel's arm as he slept soundly.
This was a habit formed over time, a sign of Callum's deep attachment to his father.
No matter how much Callum showed his affection for her during the day, it was clear who he instinctively relied on in his sleep.
She sighed.
Moreover, the apartment was small, with only one bedroom.
With that in mind, she turned off the light and went to sleep.
…
Morning came.
Callum was the only one who had slept soundly through the night. He had spent the entire night nestled in Nathaniel's arms, a feeling of safety and comfort he was so familiar with—his father's scent.
It was just for one night…
Still half-asleep, he only saw the black floral pattern cloth through his blurry vision. Then, he reached out and touched the fabric.
Chiffon?
It must be his mother…
His sleepy voice was sweet as he murmured, "Good morning, Mommy."
However, when he looked up and saw the face beside him, he froze in shock.
"W-What…"
Why was Nathaniel sleeping behind him, wearing Mavis's clothes?
He sat up quickly, eyes wide, as he took in Nathaniel's odd outfit, struggling to make sense of it.
"Shh," Nathaniel said softly, raising a finger to his lips. "Don't wake her. She went to bed really late last night."
Callum immediately covered his mouth, nodding obediently.
He scooted closer to Nathaniel and whispered, "Daddy, why are you here? You're breaking your own rules!"

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
