Nathaniel did not even look over, remaining calm as he casually explained, "She has things to take care of, so she needs to get off here. Be a good boy, and don't cling to her."
Mavis echoed his words, trying to ease the situation.
"Yes, sweetheart, I have some urgent matters to attend to. I'll be with you next time, okay?"
Callum pouted, clearly not understanding. "But it's so late, Mommy. What could be more important than coming home to sleep? Or... do you not want to be with me anymore?"
Mavis gently cupped his face, her heart aching.
"Of course not. I could never get tired of you, not ever. Tonight is just a special situation. I was so happy to see you and spend some time with you just now. Be a good boy and listen to Grandma Mildred and Auntie Gabrielle while I'm away, okay?"
"Okay..." Callum nodded obediently but still clung to her hand, unwilling to let go. "But I don't want you to leave, Mommy."
His sweet, soft voice tugged at Mavis's heart, making her eyes well up with emotion.
She wanted nothing more than to spend every moment with Callum, never to leave his side.
Nathaniel glanced at his watch, his expression indifferent as he reminded her, "It's time to go."
It was clear he was urging Mavis to get out of the car.
She did not argue but glared at him, clearly upset by his cold demeanor. Then, she opened the door and stepped out.
"Mommy!" Callum's voice was lost in the wind as she exited.
He quickly reached for the window button to lower it and catch another glimpse of her, but Nathaniel quickly covered the button, preventing him.
"Why did you stop me from talking to Mommy a little longer?" Callum asked.
Nathaniel took Callum's hands and settled him back into his seat.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
