A reporter asked, "Mrs. Nicholls, are you saying that the entire Nicholls family knew you were recovering abroad for five years?"
"No, not everyone. We kept the matter private to avoid unnecessary trouble, and only told a few people."
"Mrs. Nicholls, who exactly was aware of this situation at the time?"
Mavis was reluctant to answer.
After all, this was a press conference, not an interrogation. So, why should she be forced to answer every detail?
Instead, she shifted the conversation, establishing her position. "I'd prefer it if you addressed me as Ms. Olsen rather than Mrs. Nicholls."
The reporters exchanged puzzled glances.
Mavis picked up one of the microphones and spoke firmly, "There's something I need to share with all of you. During the past five years, my relationship with Mr. Nicholls has worsened beyond repair. Our marriage has broken down, and that's why I'm back—to discuss divorce and custody of our son. I hope you'll all stay tuned to follow the progress of our separation."
All the reporters were stunned.
She had been gone for five years, and her big return was for a divorce?
Fueled by curiosity, they began firing off more questions.
"Mrs. Nicholls, what caused the breakdown in your marriage? Rumor has it Mr. Nicholls has been seen with Ms. Tiffany Sullivan. Was his affair the reason you're pushing for a divorce?"
Mavis shook her head. "No, our divorce isn't because of any affair. It's simply due to irreconcilable differences. What Mr. Nicholls does in the future and who he chooses to be with is none of my concern."
She was not about to air their dirty laundry in front of the media, nor did she plan to publicly accuse Nathaniel of anything.
She knew better than to burn all her bridges, as leaving some things unsaid would give her leverage in the negotiations with him.
One reporter asked, "When you say 'irreconcilable differences', what exactly do you mean? Mr. Nicholls is handsome and wealthy. Is there another side to him that the public isn't aware of, something that's driven you to divorce?"
Mavis secretly rolled her eyes.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
