Nathaniel's expression was dark, his sharp eyes glaring at her like a predator ready to strike, filled with a hunger to devour her whole.
Mavis expected him to be furious and come after her for answers. However, she did not expect it to happen this fast.
Her voice muffled under his hand, desperately trying to free herself.
Yet, instead of releasing her, he lifted her legs, forcing her to wrap them around his waist or risk falling.
Her feet left the ground as her back slammed against the wall, leaving her completely trapped and helpless.
Mavis thought it was a strange position, and she could feel the heat rising to her cheek as an overwhelming shame washed over her.
Nathaniel's overpowering presence was simply suffocating; all she wanted was to break free and run.
"Stop moving," he growled in a hoarse voice, "Unless you want me to tie you up, stay still."
Mavis was taken aback by Nathaniel's audacity.
How was this different from being tied up?
What a jerk!
Despite mentally cursing him, Mavis reluctantly nodded and stopped resisting.
Nathaniel finally took his hand off her mouth, but he did not put her down.
He pinned her wrists above her head with one hand, and the other supported her bottom to keep her from falling.
"Our relationship has worsened, and irreconcilable differences? Where did you get the idea?"
He scoffed before leaning down to bite her neck, a punishing act that made her wince.
Mavis hissed in pain, tears welling in her eyes as she felt he had drawn blood.
Nathaniel met her gaze and teased, "We haven't even tried anything yet. The only time we had sex was that one drunken night and that's how we ended up with Callum. How do you know we wouldn't be compatible? Why don't we give it a try tonight, and maybe you'll change your mind."
He had made it so obvious that only a fool would not understand what he was getting at.
"Nathaniel, we're in the middle of negotiating our divorce! If you keep this up, I'm calling the police!"
He let out a mocking laugh and said, "Negotiating means we aren't divorced yet. Technically, we're still married. Last I checked, it isn't illegal to hold my own wife."
Mavis was running out of patience and refused to argue with his twisted logic.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
