Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson) novel Chapter 2298

"Come on, Adora. Uncle Eli and Aunt Sheena are waiting for you at home. I've made excuses for you, but I've got nothing this time. If we don't leave, we'll both be exposed. If Uncle Eli tells my dad about all the lies I've covered for you, I might get a beating. You don't want to see me get punished, do you?"

Of course she did not.

In the end, Adora allowed him to lead her away, ignoring Brooklyn's shouts as they left.

They quickly left Peakview Tower and got into a cab headed for the Jenkins estate.

On the way, Callum spoke earnestly, "Brooklyn takes your kindness for granted. He doesn't appreciate your efforts. You should give him the cold shoulder for a while and let him think things through."

Adora's eyes welled up with tears at the mention of Brooklyn's name. "It's my fault. He wasn't like this before. He used to be gentle and caring, looking after me in every way. He was brilliant and always at the top of his class in military assessments. It's because of me that he's become like this…"

Callum sighed. "The past is the past. People change. Or maybe this is the real him. Perhaps he was nice to you before because he was after your status. After all, marrying you would save him decades of hard work and set him up for life."

Adora shook her head. "He's not that kind of person."

"You can't always judge a book by its cover. You've only known him for a few years. You don't really know his true colors," Callum argued.

Getting worked up, Callum grabbed her arm, still trying to instill the right perspective. "A man who truly loves you wouldn't want to see you cry or suffer. Not only does he fail to cherish you, but he also dumps all his negative emotions on you and loses his temper all the time. That's not love, understand?"

Adora hung her head, tears occasionally sliding down her cheeks, her face pale from his words.

Realizing he might have been too harsh, Callum sighed silently and softened his tone. "There are plenty of good men out there. Let's not fixate on Brooklyn, okay? If he can't make you happy, we'll find someone else."

He took out a tissue and wiped her tears. "Tell me what kind of man you like, and I'll help you find one."
