In the corridor, Nathaniel removed the disposable gloves and inspected his injury.
He was about to head downstairs when he ran into Sheena returning from the restroom.
Sheena had just finished her video conference, and to avoid bringing any germs from the computer mouse, she washed her hands thoroughly before returning to Asher's ward.
When she saw Nathaniel, she immediately noticed the bloodstains on his hand, and it was too late when he attempted to hide his hand behind his back.
"Are you injured?"
Nathaniel responded with a nonchalant smile, "It's nothing. I just tripped on the way here."
Sheena could tell something happened and pressed further, "With your skills, even if you did trip, you wouldn't sustain such an injury. Are you going to say you tripped, and your hand landed on a nail next?"
"You truly understand me," he chuckled.
"The lab has top-notch security measures and cleanliness standards. There shouldn't be any nails or sharp objects on the floor. You can't fool me with that excuse. What really happened?" Sheena persisted.
Nathaniel shrugged indifferently, "Nana, I really can't hide anything from you."
…
A few minutes later, the door to the ward opened slowly.
Asher, who had been eating durian, immediately dumped the remaining half piece of durian into the trash and hurriedly wiped away the traces of durian from his mouth when Sheena entered.
Though Asher acted quickly, Sheena caught on to all his acts.
"Mommy, are you done with your meeting? You don't have to rush. Work is important, and I'm used to getting IV drips. I can manage on my own," Asher said.
Sheena remained silent, calmly approaching his bedside.
She quickly noticed the traces of durian on the corner of his mouth and the pungent smell in the room.
Sheena knew Asher liked durians, so why did he discard the unfinished piece when she entered?
She silently fetched a tissue from the bedside table and gently wiped the corners of his mouth.
Asher smiled obediently, acting really natural.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
