Mavis clutched her marriage certificate tightly in her hand as she awkwardly explained, "I have quite a lot of things. Even though they're not worth much, they're precious to me and important. I'm afraid bodyguards might mishandle them, so I'd feel more at ease if I packed them myself."
"Suit yourself, but don't wander off. The Nicholls family's driver will pick you up for the apartment in twenty minutes at the latest. Stay here," Nathaniel replied.
Mavis thought she could have taken the bus herself; there was no need to bother the driver.
After all, she was just Nathaniel's wife for a year, and she would return to being no one after their divorce.
Mavis did not feel deserving of these privileges, but under Nathaniel's intimidating presence, she did not object and simply nodded.
Nathaniel left swiftly, driving away his luxury car without a second glance or a hint of hesitation.
Mavis sighed, comforting herself as she mumbled, "At least he took the marriage certificate with him. I should be grateful."
She lovingly caressed the marriage certificate and tucked it into her bag.
Suddenly, her phone rang.
It was an international call from overseas.
At a glance, she could tell the number belonged to her father, Khalid Olsen.
Mavis hesitated for a moment but ultimately answered.
"Damn it, Mavis! Who is that man? He actually had someone abduct your mom! He wanted nothing else but your official document. Did you provoke him? If I catch him, I'll beat him to a pulp!"
Khalid's voice was earsplitting.
Thankfully, Mavis held the phone a little farther away to avoid damaging her ears.
He was speaking in Harbor City's local dialect, the Ryshrian language.
Mavis shook her head, feeling helpless.
She patiently replied in Ryshrian, "Dad, you probably can't beat him, and besides, I'm married. He had someone retrieve the documents from you to register our marriage."
"Huh?"
There were exclamations from multiple people on the other end of the line.
Soon, Mavis could hear noisy chatter.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
