Mavis was puzzled.
Was it the lively old lady Gabrielle mentioned?
Mavis suddenly felt a wave of nervousness.
After all, she was finally meeting Nathaniel's grandmother, a very important figure in the Nicholls family.
She anxiously fidgeted with the hem of her coat, unsure what to expect.
Should she prepare something for her first meeting with Mildred?
With her experience and status, Mildred had likely seen all sorts of gifts.
Mavis doubted that something as mundane as gold or jewelry would impress her, and she did not have the money for anything extravagant anyway.
This thought made Mavis even more uneasy.
How could she make a good impression?
Her darting gaze betrayed her nervousness, and it was hard for Nathaniel to miss how tense she was.
"Don't worry. Grandma is very easygoing. She won't make things difficult for you."
Despite his comforting words, Nathaniel was unsure if the playful old lady would decide to test Mavis.
Mavis bit her lip, staying silent for a while.
Even though their relationship was only contractual, she still wanted to make a good impression on Nathaniel's family during their time together.
"Do I need to bring Grandma a gift?" she asked eventually.
Nathaniel chuckled softly. "What do you think Grandma could possibly need?"
He had a point.
As the matriarch of one of Froania's three wealthiest families, she lacked nothing.
After hesitating, Mavis finally asked, "What kind of granddaughter-in-law would Grandma like?"
She was willing to be the kind of wife the Nicholls family would approve of.
Nathaniel's tone suddenly turned cold. "Don't change anything. Just be yourself."
Sensing his annoyance, Mavis felt a bit lost.
Why was he upset?

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
